26/05/03 Senior footballers versus Cargin
Away report
by Gareth Clarke
The seniors travelled to Cargin in what, the squad
were thinking, was going to be the toughest away game of the season. However
the starting 15 had a different idea in mind to that. The St. John's men
started slowly conceding a few early scores before Conal Kelly first registered
for the Johnnies.
Things were looking bad when the goalkeeper misjudged
his position in the goalmouth to let a high ball drop in. It's ok Ned,
it happens to the best of us!!!!!! however the lads settled into the task
at hand to grab a few points and a lucky goal that caught the cargin keeper
out.
The Johnnies were a different side in the second period,
they looked like scoring in every attack. In fact goals came in abundance,
again from Conal 'doot' Kelly, Brian McFall, Eamon Blaney, and the young
and talented Grumpy!
The final score saw St. Johns cruise to victory 5-06
to 1-06.
They play the St. Galls tonight away, hopefully they
will have a good support down to watch.
