Yes, you read that headline right! St. John's GAC will be the proud hosts of an All-Ireland Final this year - The Sigerson Cup Final.

Corrigan Park will no doubt be a great venue for the Intervarsity All-Ireland Football Championship Final on 28th February 2004 at 2.30pm. Whilst St. John's may be hoping for one of the two Universities from Ulster (QUB or UUJ) to make it through to the final one thing is for sure - whoever does make it through will be worthy finalists given the high standard of football in this competition.

 

The Sigerson Cup has proved to be a major milestone in the development of successful inter-county careers, and has wrought great performances from some of the biggest names in Irish sport, over the years. In total 21 teams teams will compete in this year's Datapac Sigerson Cup.

 

The cup, named after Tyrone born UCD professor George Sigerson, was first played for in 1911 with the inaugural winners being UCD. The Dublin college also lead the Sigerson Cup Roll of Honour having won 32 titles. In recent years a number of new names have appeared on the trophy, including Tralee Institute of Technology and Sligo I.T

Team officials welcome in St. Mary's University College with traditional night in the Hatfield for supporters.

Friday 27th February
Traditional Night in the Whitefort Inn
(Tickets available for The Botanic Inn and The Globe for all participants)

Saturday 28th February
5.00pm - Awards and dinner at St. John's GAC, followed by Band.
7.00pm - Banquet at Belfast City Hall for team Officals and dignitaries

Sunday 29th February
Disco in the Botanic Inn for all participants
