14/02/04 No love (or balls) lost at Carrickmore on St. Valentine's Day

Naomh Eoin, Aontroim 1:11
An Charraig Mhor, Tir Eoghain 0:07

Our Senior hurlers travelled to Tyrone at he weekend to lock horns with our genial hosts An Charraig Mhor. Played on a beautiful sunny crisp February it proved to be another useful pre-season game for all concerned.

Gerard McFall dips the ball

Naomh Eoin, without their collection of Antrim Senior, Minor and University players away on duty fielded against a weakened Tyrone team who were missing several players mainly due to Colleges duty.

Big clearance from Liam Knocker

St. John's, with Gerard McFall extremely accurate from midfield, proved to be the stronger on the day and increased their half time lead of 0:05 to 0:03 to 1:11 to 0:07 at full-time.

Certainly McFall was well supported by Michael O'Neill and Liam Knocker who both again proved consistently good for St. Johns.

They were well assisted by veterans Paul Montgomery of Alamein and Locky McCurdy of…just about everything. Brendan Moss looked sharp up front as did Martin McMahon who battled well.

Raffo and Monty talking tactics

Kevin Rafferty again proved himself as he settles into his new role at centre half forward. Youngster Simon McCrory, who is just out of U-16 played gamely enough at centrefield.
The elder statesmen, Mr F.Collins & Mr. K.McKeogh, again proved that there is life on Mars ('that's Mars bars Kevin'…... too many I'm afraid, you're going to have to stop.)

Fergal goes in for the block

A sincere thanks to Peter and everyone involved in An Charraig Mhor for arranging the day for both senior and U-16 teams. We look forward to your return to Corrigan Park .
