06/06/04 Under 16's come undone against Co. Tyrone but dominate St. Teresas

St. Johns U-16 Select…………..3:03 (12)
Tyrone U-16 County Team……8:08 (32)

Tyrone's U-16 county Hurlers travelled to Belfast on Sunday to watch the Ulster Hurling Final (draw) and play a St. Johns U-16 select before hand.

Certainly the Tyrone strength in depth was shown through out the game as they took the game to the Johnnies in the blazing June heat. In fact the heat seemed to go to a few heads as the referee sidelined 2 Tyrone players and one St. Johns player (Gerard McCann) and 'Sin Binned,' two others 1 from Tyrone and 1 from St. Johns (Aodh Hamilton).

Apart from this Tyrone showed some quality hurling in flashes with their superior strength and fitness to the fore. Robbie McKay, John Connolly, Neil McKeever, Brendan McLaughlin, Conor Gallagher, Anthony Johnstone, Dara Hutchinson, Colin Breaty and Dennis Farrell had good games. For St. Johns Conor McStein, Marty Elliott, James Darragh, Gerard McCann, Fionntan McKillop, Aodhan Mulholland, Brendan McGibbon and Brian Holmes had good games.

3/06/04 South Antrim U-16 Hurling League Division 1

St. Teresas …..2:01
St. Johns……...8:13

St. Johns U-16 Hurlers continued their impressive league form with a comprehensive win over St. Teresas on Sunday. Played in extremely warm conditions with a reasonably strong breeze blowing in St. Teresa's favour during the first half St. Johns went in 4:06 to 1:01 in front. They continued their first half performance to run out comprehensive winners.

A solid team performance with all sectors firing on all fronts. Score of the match was undoubtedly Aodh Hamilton's 2nd half majestic 90m point, a real 'knock-out from Tyson!' Miss of the match was undoubtedly Aodhan Mulholland's smash against the cross bar from 20 yards out!!
