06/08/04 Kevin Gough celebrates 50th with surprise birthday bash in the club

St. John's footballing legend Kevin Gough got more than he bargained for when he went to the club for a drink on Friday night.

Instead of having, what he thought would be, a quick pint he was treated to a surprise birthday bash, organised by his wife Maria and family in Corrigan Park!!

A large crowd gathered to celebrate Kevin's big half a century.

These included family and friends, friends from St. Johns, previous team-mates, as well as adversaries.

Kevin showed no signs of slowing down. Famous for his fancy footwork on the field, Kevin soon took to the floor and dazzled the female contingent with his equally deadly dance moves. So impressive were some of his moves that rumours soon abounded about a return to senior football.

Well, 50 is the new 30 according to recent studies so a comeback to the senior football team may not be as far-fetched as you would think!
