South Antrim Hurling Championship Semi-Final “Bear Pit.”

With three sendings off , a mini pitch invasion and a lot of good Hurling St. Johns and Rossa played out an exciting South Antrim Hurling semi-final in the Bear Pit on Sunday afternoon. St. Johns went in at the interval 1:08 to 1:02 in the lead thanks to a fine strike from 20 yards to the roof of the Rossa net by Stephen Corner and some excellent points from Eoghan Caldwell. The second half saw Rossa , now with the assistance of the wind, slowly pegging themselves back into contention with points mainly from Liam McAuley. But when Tomas Shannon released a fine handpass to Eoghan Caldwell, he burst through the Rossa defence for 50m and crashed the sliotar to the roof of the net. This seemed to raise the Johnnies who slowly pulled away to run out four point winners.

Michael Flannery played an inspirational 2nd half , scoring a vital point and winning three crucial frees which were all converted.

For Rossa ,Conor Rocks, Danny Murray, Michael Armstong, Liam McAuley, Conal Shannon and Ciaran Murphy all had good games.

For St. Johns Michael Flannery, Anthony Moore, Tomas Shannon, Gary Stone, Aodhan Mulholland, Adrian Downey and Eoghan Caldwell were to the fore.
