Attention Members - Sunday 7th February 2010 at 11am, Corrigan Park

As mentioned on this site before there is a players registration meeting this Sunday in the club.  The committee would hope that not only players but also those involved in taking teams attend this.  In fact all other members would also be encouraged to attend.

This meeting is set to include details on registration, coaching, codes of conduct, training, insurance, the new club hurling and football structures and changes to club rules on membership.

Following from directions from GAA HQ, each club is to hold one of these meetings with their players and mentors.  At St Johns we are hoping to go one, maybe five better.

We are delighted to invite two very high profile members of the GAA, not only in Ulster but across the rest of the country.  Although we may not put a name to the face at first glance, it is no doubt that many of us have seen or heard of the two men who are preparing to give up a Sunday to help us at Naomh Eoin.  Both Mark Conway and Ryan Feeney are part of the driving force behind what makes Ulster a provincial council ahead of the rest.  It is hoping this day will become the start of something big in Naomh Eoin CLG.

Mark may not be the most recognisable Tyrone GAA man, but I'm sure Peter Canavan, Stephen O'Neill and other Tyrone players could tell you of the importance this man has had in developing the Club Tyrone setup in their county.  Always a proud representitive of his club Killdress and Tyrone this man has been a key speaker at provincial level on such areas as strategics plans, women in the GAA and volunteer and community involvement.

Ryan is a member of Faughanvale CLG in Derry and was an active part of The Ranch GAA during his time there.  He is employed by the Ulster Council as the Community Development and Public Relations Manager.  Club Maith (a club development division of the Ulster Council) and the Urban Club Development strategy are two areas where Ryan was heavily involved in setting up.  These are some of the groundstones on which many clubs now base their work in the chase for club success.

Mark and Ryan are coming to Corrigan Park on a Sunday when they could be with the family (or possibly more importantly to their hearts their own clubs), but instead they are coming to us.  Come Sunday I would like to be in the front row, thinking of what could be in the future of St Johns.

We have a great history, lets have an even better future.
